Flying safaris are the ideal way to combine different game parks without spending too much time travelling. This 7-day safari visits two of Kenya’s beautiful parks, the stunning Samburu followed by the magnificent Masai Mara.
Day 1: Arrival Nairobi
You will be received at the Jomo Kenyatta International hotel and drive to hotel for check in. If time allows you could engage in optional visit to the Elephant orphanage, Giraffe center or the Karen Blixen.
Day 2: Nairobi- Samburu
Depart Wilson airport and fly by light aircraft to Samburu (approximately 1 hour 15 minutes). Transfer to your camp. After lunch, relax before a late sunset game drive. This park surpasses many of them in its great numbers of the big cats – lion, leopard, and cheetah. Not to mention hundreds elephants. The park boasts some 900 of these great, noble creatures. And if you’d like to see some out-of-the-way species, the reserve offers sightings of the unusual special species to include oryx, Somali ostrich, and gerenuk, to name a few and plenty of birdlife.
Day 3: Samburu
Enjoy an early morning game drive, then back to the camp for breakfast. Relax at the camp before lunch. You can cool off in the lovely pool before a late afternoon game drive in this delightful national park.
Day 4: Samburu- Masai Mara
After an early breakfast, fly to the Masai Mara (approximately 1 hour 30 minutes).
Days 5-6: Masai Mara
Upon arrival in Maasai Mara, enjoy lunch at the camp before an afternoon game drive. Then, for the next three days, get ready to explore the rich terrain and animal life of the Mara. You’ll enjoy game drives through rolling grassland and signature flat-topped acacia trees. Along with the vast herds roaming the savannah, you’ll visit the Mara River to view hippos and crocodiles. During the migration season (July through October) expect to witness the wildebeests and zebras of the Great Migration streaming over the river in great numbers.
You could engage in optional activities that is visit to a Maasai village to meet the local villagers, see their lifestyle and learn about their culture. This is an exciting way to meet and experience the indigenous people of the area or take hot air balloon ride over the Masai Mara to view the scenery, the animals and the whole experience of this timeless land from above.
Enjoy sixth day in this world-famous game park, with morning and afternoon game drives, with time to relax in between. This is the day you can opt to take an early morning optional balloon flight over the Mara followed by a ‘bubbly’ bush breakfast.
Day 7: Maasai Mara- Nairobi
Early morning game drive, followed by breakfast. Later transfer to the airstrip for return flight back to Nairobi in the morning (approximately 1 hour) and continue with your onward travel arrangement.
