The beautiful and scenic Lake Naivasha, one of the Great Rift Valley fresh water Lakes is only 1.30 hours to 2 hours drive from Kenya’s capital. You will be picked in morning at 7.00 am from your hotel to begin the short drive to Lake Naivasha with packed lunch box. Enjoy an amazing view of the Great Rift Valley and Mount Longonot for excellent photo opportunities.
Upon arrival we’ll take a boat safari and enjoy views of Hippos and the nearby wildlife grazing at the shore. You shall sail towards the Crescent Island Game Sanctuary. Don’t be surprised to see buffalo, zebra, eland and impala look up as you sail by. On arrival at Crescent Island you shall take a guided walking safari. Crescent Island Sanctuary boasts more animals per acre than any other park in Kenya. You are certain to trek by diverse herds of wildlife – wildebeest, waterbuck, zebra, giraffe and gazelle amongst them. Hippos are also known to graze all about the island and you’re sure to spot pelicans, cormorants and fish eagles as well. The island is not fenced, and the animals are free to roam to and from the mainland… much like yourselves. We shall stop for picnic lunch within the crescent island sanctuary.
After Crescent Island you will sail back to the starting point this time taking time to view more birdlife in the lake. Keep an eye out for woodpeckers, cuckoos, shrikes and raptors such as hawks and the African fish eagle. The nearby papyrus swamps host jacanas, herons and kingfishers. After the boat trip you will be driven back to Nairobi.
